January 2,2017

Dad, although he loves Jesus was never an overly expressive man. Last night after the last of family trickled out for the night dad gave us children a very amazing testimony! He was just so overwhelmed by Gods blessing on him. He asked us what day it was and we told him Sunday January 1st. To which he replied "Oh, the Lords day! The perfect day for Jesus to call me home. As the hours ticked by with us children beside him it became clear that this was not the day God was calling him home.

This morning when he awoke he was so disappointed! We, of course, had mixed feelings. Although it would have been so nice for dad, this day has brought many more people to his bedside. People who could sit and hold his hand and reminisce and people who prayed over him.  For dad and all of this the whole experience is just overwhelming! Dad the quiet, and humble man that he is has all these people showing their love to him.

Dad has now spent the last two and a half hours sleeping again and he is just so much at peace. Although his earthly body is slowly shutting down we are still thankful that his mind is clear and he is still able to communicate his love and appreciation for all who come to visit.

Dad's journey began on Wednesday December 28. Dad had a difficult few nights at home and an ambulance was called for what we thought was a bad case of pneumonia. By Thursday morning we were told that dad is suffering from heart failure and had had a heart attack through the night.

Now this New Years Eve dad is still with us. The last few days we've had ups and downs and family has been called to his bed only to have dad pick up again. We are so grateful that dads mind is mostly clear and has used those time to give wisdom or advise to his children and grandchildren. We've also sang songs, read the bible or reminisce about the past.

Each time he picks up someone finds themselves amazed that he's still with us. We say no, it's just purely a gift that God has given us this time together.

We appreciate the prayers and support that we've received from so many of you. We now find ourselves feeling that this is the best way to keep everyone updated on dad journey. A fitting title picked by my nephews girlfriend, Sarah.
